    You should have stayed abroad for more than two years and your short visits to india should not exceed 180 days. If so, then you are eligible for ‘Transfer of Residence’ facility.

    As per this facility, you have to pay Customs duty only on Electronic goods at the rate of 15 percent on assessed value (Value assessed by preventive officer of customs).

  • Only one unit of each item per family is allowed.
  • The aggregate value of such items shall not exceed one-lakh fifty thousand Rupees.
  • Unaccompanied goods are dispatched or arrived within the prescribed time limits.
  • The rest of the household goods do not attract customs duty. But, if there is any new item, then Customs duty has to be paid at the rate of 25on assessed value. (Value assessed by Preventive Officer of Customs).

    If you have not stayed abroad for more than two years, still you are eligible for ‘Mini Transfer of Residence’ Facility. To avail this facility, you should produce job termination letter and your visa should have been cancelled. Those details have to be accepted and approved by the Depty Commissioner of Customs. Then only, this facility can be availed.

    Customs Duty on Bike/Car :

    You can import Bike/Car, only if you are eligible for ‘Transfer of Residence’ facility. The customs duty on Bike/ Car is 110 percent on the invoice value.

  • Customs Duty on Household Goods :

    An assignment letter is required from your company confirming that you will stay in Indai for a minimum of one year. Also, your visa should be valid for a minimum of one year.

    If you are not coming on any assigment from any company and you have a one year valid visa, then you will have to pay customs duty at the rate of 25 percent on the assessed value (Value assessed by Preventive officer of Customs), excluding used household goods like clothes, books and shoes.

    Customs Duty on Bike/Car :

    You can import Bike/Car, only if you are eligible for ‘Transfer of Residence’ facility. The customs duty on Bike/ Car is 110 percent on the invoice value.

  • Cartridges of firearms exceeding 50
